My name is Virginia Adams. I have lived in the Elgin district for 29 years. I have two children Tim and Sandy. Both Tim and Sandy attended Elgin from kindergarten through graduation. I also have a four year old granddaughter, Kennedy, who will become a Comet in a few short years. In December 2017 I will be welcoming twin granddaughters to my family!
My teaching career began with the Heat Start program where I was a lead teacher for eleven years. I came to Elgin in 2008 as a paraprofessional and have worn many hats including one-on-one aide, classroom aide, and most recently study hall and computer lab monitor. With the encouragement of my family and peers, I began college in 2010 to follow my dream of becoming an elementary teacher. I attended Grand Canyon University as an online student while working at Elgin and in December 2014 I graduated with a dual degree in Elementary Education (Pre K - 5) and Special Education (K-12).
I am honored to have been chosen to teach kindergarten at Elgin beginning in the fall of 2015. I look forward to providing a classroom that is safe, nurturing, and filled with engaging learning experiences for all students who walk through my door.
