Minimum Qualifications:

2026-2027 School Year District Literacy Coach K-12

The following position is an opening in the Elgin School District for the 2026-2027 School Year:

Position:  District Literacy Coach K-12

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Preferred Masters Degree in Reading or Literacy
  • Proper Certification/Licensure
  • Significant Literacy Teaching Experience
  • Preferred Certified Dyslexia Interventionist/Structured Literacy Training

Essential Functions:

  • Provide job-embedded coaching K-12 teachers, including classroom observations, co-teaching, modeling lessons, and feedback cycles.
  • Teach literacy courses or intervention groups, modeling evidence-based instructional practices and high-impact strategies, across grade levels.

Position:  Math Specialist Teacher K-12

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree- While a degree in mathematics or math education is preferred, a degree in another field is acceptable if accompanied by required math content credits.

  • Previous Tutoring or Classroom Experience

Essential Functions:

  • Provide targeted small-group and individualized math instruction to support students performing below grade level across K-12.

2026-2027 School Year Agricultural Education Pathway Instructor

The following position is open in Elgin Local Schools for the 2026-2027 School Year:

Position:  Agricultural Education (AO) Pathway Instructor (adding 2nd teacher to expand course offerings at Elgin High & Middle School) 

Description:  The Agricultural Education (AO) Pathway Instructor will develop and co-lead the Agricultural program at Elgin Middle/High School, in addition to teaching exploratory middle school courses. The teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality standards-based instruction aligned with Ohio Department of Education (ODEW) Agricultural standards. The teacher must integrate classroom and laboratory instruction in addition to serving as a co-FFA advisor. FFA advisor responsibilities include FFA leadership development and supervising Supervised Agricultural Experiences to promote student academic achievement, and career readiness in agricultural sciences and related career pathways. Advisors train and coach Career Development Events. CDE’s could include Ag. Mechanic Skills, Ag. Power Diagnostics, Ag. Sales, Ag. Technology and Mechanical Systems, Agronomy, Farm Business Management, Food Service, Outdoor Power Equipment, Soils, Job Interview and Public Speaking.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Ohio Department of Education and Workforce CTE Teaching License in Agriculture or ability to obtain appropriate licensure. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher, preferred
  • Two years’ experience in the agricultural field
  • Ability to develop curriculum, teach hands-on skills, and maintain compliance with CTE program requirements.

Preferred:

  • Teaching experience or experience training/mentoring in an agricultural setting.
  • Knowledge of Ohio CTE program standards and performance measures.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Enthusiasm for mentoring young people and preparing the next generation of agricultural professionals.

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Provide direct instruction and supervision in both classroom and lab settings.
  • Deliver high-quality, standards-based instruction aligned with Ohio's Learning Standards for Agriculture and Environmental Systems. 
  • Advise (coadvise) and supervise the local FFA chapter (District 6, County Marion) including planning meetings, leadership activities, Career Development Events, and participation in local, state and national FFA activities. 
  • Integrate instructional technology, industry-standard equipment, and district-approved digital resources to enhance the student learning and career readiness. 
    • Possible courses include: Agronomic Systems, Mechanical Principles, Precision Applications in Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, in addition to Unmanned Aircraft Systems.
    • Courses currently offered: Agriculture Food and Natural Resources, Business Management for Agricultural and Environmental Systems, Animal and Plant Science, Livestock Science, Selection, Nutrition and Management.

2026-2027 School Year Career Technical Education Healthcare Pathway Instructor

The following position is open in Elgin Local Schools for the 2026-2027 School Year:

Position:  Career Technical Education (CTE) Healthcare Pathway Instructor 

Description:  The CTE Healthcare Pathway Instructor will develop and lead the Health Science program for high school students, designed to prepare them for healthcare careers and post-secondary opportunities. The instructor will establish a dynamic, hands-on learning environment where students can explore the medical field, gain foundational health science knowledge, and earn industry-recognized credentials such as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.

This position will play a key role in shaping the culture and curriculum of the program’s first year, helping to build community partnerships, establish laboratory standards, and align coursework with Ohio Department of Education (ODEW) CTE Health Science standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Ohio Department of Education and Workforce CTE Teaching License in Health Science or ability to obtain appropriate licensure. 
  • Alternative: Candidates with relevant healthcare experience may be eligible for an alternative CTE teaching license under ODE guidelines.
  • An Associate degree in nursing or a related healthcare field; Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
  • Current, unencumbered Ohio RN or LPN license.
  • Two years’ experience in the healthcare field, preferably including experience in long-term care, acute care, or allied health settings.
  • Ability to develop curriculum, teach hands-on skills, and maintain compliance with CNA program requirements.

Preferred:

  • Teaching experience or experience training/mentoring in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of Ohio CTE program standards and performance measures.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Work Environment:  Instruction will take place in a new, state-of-the-art CTE facility designed for health science education, including classroom, lab, and simulated clinical spaces. The instructor will collaborate with district staff to establish classroom procedures, lab safety protocols, and clinical partnerships.  Report to the Building Principal/CTE Supervisor.

  • Support recruitment and retention efforts for program enrollment.
