Elgin High School and Middle School have implemented a new system called the Power of ICU. ICU stands for Intensive Care Unit, just like with the hospital. The Power of ICU system is the foundation for an academic support system that the EHS and EMS staffs will utilize to support students in and out of the classroom.
Here are the key concepts of the system:
When a student’s grade is “sick” (have a missing assignment) their name is added to the ICU List. Every time a student is added to the ICU List an email and text are sent to the parent/guardian, notifying them that their student has been placed on the ICU List and is missing one or more required assignments. This is a reminder that your student needs to complete and turn in their assignment(s) on their own time. Throughout the school year, EHS and EMS will provide extra time and help for students during ICU times before school, during lunch and after school. All high school students and most middle school students will have time during the school day as well, but extra time/help will be available for those who need it.
We need your help in defeating student apathy. Our ultimate goal is not only for EVERY STUDENT TO COMPLETE EVERY ASSIGNMENT, but for every student to master the academic standards, be prepared for graduation, and a successful life after graduation.
If you have any questions regarding the system, please contact the MS/HS Office.
