Welcome to the Elgin Elementary and Elgin Middle School Counseling department!

The mission of the counselors of Elgin Local Schools is to provide high quality, comprehensive school counseling services to all students.  Our programs are designed to help all students develop and enhance their academic, social, career and personal strengths in order to become responsible and productive citizens. There is a commitment to individual uniqueness and the maximum development of human potential.

Kindergarten through 5th grade FOCUS:

  • Increase self awareness
  • Increase social skills
  • Developing healthy relationships
  • Increase self regulation
  • Explore career pathways

6th grade through 8th grade FOCUS:

  • Improving academic awareness
  • Continuing self regulation skills
  • Expanding career awareness
  • Improving awareness on healthy and positive social relationships
  • Increase understanding of self respect and respect for others

5th grade through 8th grade girls ROX Program

ROX is a program for girls’ that focuses on the health, education, safety and empowerment of girls.  The mission of ROX is to equip girls with the knowledge and skills needed to live healthy, independent, productive, and violence-free lives.  This is done through a 20 week small group sessions that assist girls in developing the skills they need to address the social, personal, and academic issues of adolescence such as: drops in self esteem and confidence, concerns with weight and body image, navigating difficult friendships and relationships, acquiring important safety and sexual violence prevention skills, and planning out their futures as leaders and role models.
