Elgin High School Students and Families,
The 2019-20 school year is moving along at an extremely fast pace. Elgin High School is in a continuous process of evaluating curriculum needs including the development of new courses for the 2020-21 school year, preparing students for the end of course assessments, and assuring that we help prepare all of our students for their futures!
As we move forward into the second half of the school year, our focus continues to be on the students. Scheduling students for the 2020-21 school year has started, end of course assessments will be administered beginning the month of April (see High School AIR Testing article), and graduation preparations for our Seniors is in full swing.
Elgin High School has adjusted the curriculum to provide the most beneficial opportunities for our students, regardless of the path they will seek after graduation! This includes adjustments to the course curriculum, development of additional courses, and agreements made with numerous Colleges and Universities to provide students the opportunity to enroll in College Credit Plus college coursework at Elgin High School. We will also be making changes to available curriculum for the 2020-21 school year.
There are a number of websites that can be beneficial in both you and your students understanding of the opportunities and requirements set forth by the State of Ohio.
Graduation Requirements - http://education.ohio.gov/Topics/Ohio-s-Graduation-Requirements. This is very important to review as the State of Ohio has added additional pathways for students to meet that will allow them to graduate. No longer is the sole pathway to earning a diploma based on end of course assessments, receiving a remediation free score on the ACT, or earning industry recognized credentials. Students now have options to receive their high school diploma.
