Elgin High School Students and Families,
Elgin High School has seen a number of different exciting activities take place in 2019 and 2020 will offer many more. It is hard to believe that we are about to end the second nine weeks while preparing the winter season and enjoying our holidays. Semester Exams will mark the half-way point of the school year and spring is right around the corner. This time of year brings many important topics and dates that I would like to make you aware of as we move throughout the school year and begin the second semester.
As we move forward into the second half of the school year, our focus continues to be on the students. Our students will continue to prepare for the End of Course Assessments that begin in April. The curriculum will be adjusted for the next school year. Scholarships for our seniors will need to be completed and submitted by the deadlines.
Our Juniors are planning for their final year of high school and our Seniors are in the process of finalizing plans for graduation! It is exciting to watch as the students grow and mature in their preparation for the next steps of their lives and prepare for their futures! We will again be taking our junior class to visit and tour a college or university in Ohio.
Freshman will continue to learn the new permanent graduation requirements that focus on competency and readiness. These changes will guide and develop a new way of learning and give them opportunities that Elgin students have never been exposed to before. More information will come and there is a document below to review, which explains the new graduation requirements.
All students will continue to focus on their personal “What’s Your E?” We want to do all we can to assist your students in deciding the best path for their future after graduation! Take time to discuss with your student their plans following graduation.
The following are a number of important sites to assist both students and families for graduation requirements, testing and other educational information.
