My name is Mrs. Aelker, and this is my nineteenth year teaching math at Elgin. I have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Bluffton College and a Master's of Education degree in Curriculum and Technology from the University of Phoenix. My husband is a fifth grade science teacher in the Marion City Schools, and I have two adorable children: Lucy (9) and Nolan (6).
The mission of my algebra classes is to ensure all students undertake tasks which promote positive self-esteem, intellectual growth, and physical well being. Appropriately styled learning activities will encourage growth at varying levels of ability and interest. All students will be challenged to develop self-reliance and to achieve their full potential as they become literate, responsible, contributing members of society. The vision of my algebra classes is to provide every student with a stimulating environment, which will challenge individuals to accept the responsibilities essential for personal, social, and academic success.
