This is my 30th year in education and my 27th with the Elgin Local Schools. I earned my B.S. in Education from BGSU in 1988 and my M.S. in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Dayton in 2001. I became Highly Qualified in English, math, science and social studies, in special education, through the University of Findlay in 2006. I have been a special education teacher, Occupational Work Adjustment Instructor, and a guidance counselor. This year I will be teaching Career Connections to sophomores, juniors, and seniors, and College and Career Readiness to 8th graders. I will also be the work-study coordinator.
During my time with the Elgin Local Schools I have also coached multiple sports. I have coached middle school basketball for many of my previous 26 years. I was the varsity baseball coach for 8 years, and the varsity golf coach for 3 years. I also coached middle school football for 1 year, freshman basketball for 1 year, and middle school golf for 2 years. I am currently the Assistant Athletic Director for Fall sports.
I am married to Julee and we live in Prospect. We have 4 children; Blake (deceased), Josh, 27, a '14 and '16 graduate of Bluffton University, currently coaching football at his alma mater, where he is the Defensive Coordinator; Makenzee, 20, a graduate of Elgin High School, and currently a sophomore at OSUM; and Gage, 18, a senior at Pleasant High School/Tri-Rivers Career Center, playing soccer and basketball.
