The following position is open in the Elgin Local Schools for the 2024-2025 school year:

 

Position:   Director of Student Services and Academics

 

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Master’s degree

  • Related/appropriate state of Ohio certification/license; administrative certification/licensure by Ohio Department ofEducation and Workforce preferred

  • Previous school administration/leadership experience preferred

  • Extensive knowledge and/or background in writing and monitoring specialized plans like IEP’s, 504’s, WEP’s, ELL plans

  • Thorough background in and knowledge of K-12 curriculum development, instructional implementation preferred

  • Experience in facilitating and/or providing staff professional development

  • Working knowledge of testing and accountability as related to school 

  • Grants writing and grants administration experience

  • Three or more years of teaching experience

  • Valid driver’s license

  • BCII/FBI clearance

  • Negative TB test results

  • Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate

Middle School Principal

 

The following position is open in the Elgin Local Schools for the 2024-2025 school year:

 

Position:   Middle School Principal

 

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Master’s degree or higher

  • Appropriate principal licensure (4-9 or 7-12)

  • Minimum 4 years of successful teaching experience

  • Prior administrative/leadership experience preferred

  • BCI/FBI clearance showing a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.

  • Complies with drug-free workplace rules and board policies.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as the school’s head administrator and instructional leader.

  • Participates as an active member of the management team.

  • Articulates a clear philosophy and shared vision of learning.

  • Upholds board policies and follows administrative guidelines/procedures.

  • Advances the professional image of the school district.  Maintains open and effective communications.  Promotes the district’s mission, philosophy, and vision.

  • Analyzes data to improve school operations.  Monitors community demographics, resources, and emerging trends.  Helps develop and implement the district’s continuous improvement plan.

  • Keeps current with technology and other workplace innovations that support job functions.

  • Effective organizational planning and project management skills.

  • Ability to identify, evaluate, and implement program options, auxiliary services, and curricular materials that support the diverse learning needs of students.

  • Provides staff leadership.  Engenders staff enthusiasm and teamwork.  Promotes a safe, efficient, and effective work/learning environment.  Advances the change process.  Implements strategies and time-frames to accomplish organizational objectives.  Helps resolve problems.

  • Participates in staff selection and orientation processes.  Expresses high expectations and provides support to improve staff performance (e.g., observations, consultations, meetings, etc.).

  • Administers the instructional program.  Promotes academic excellence in a nurturing environment. 

  • Monitors education laws, rules, and regulations.  Keeps current with state academic content standards, benchmarks, and indicators.  Promotes the continuity of the instructional program.

  • Performs other specific job-related duties as directed.
