Brian Agler Hosting Alumni Open Gym and Youth BKB Clinic

Elgin High School Alumni and current coach of the WNBA Dallas Wings will be hosting a youth basketball camp and alumni open gym on Sunday, March 3rd at Elgin.  The alumni open gym is open to both men and women and will be from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM followed by the youth camp from 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM.

Health Clinic Reminders
  1. Each student must provide an excuse from the doctor with any orders that pertain to the school day.
  2. Medications to be given at school must have a doctor's order.
  3. Students must have correct documentation from a doctor to warrant the need/necessity for any apparatus (crutches/walking boots/wheelchairs) to be used at school

Elgin Elementary School will offer 2 sessions of Summer School this summer!

3rd Grade Summer School will run Monday - Thursday from June 23-July 8.  Hours are 8:30 am -12:30 pm.Students will be given the opportunity to retake the 3rd grade Reading OAA on the last day!  Transportation will be provided as well as breakfast and lunch.

Leader in Me Symposium 2014 Vists Elgin Elementary School

Elgin Elementary school had over one hundred educators involved or wanting to be involved in the Leader in Me Process visit our school on March 18th, 2014.

Mr. McDaniel's class learned about how the pioneers lived compared to how we live today. 

Elementary Book Fair

The Elgin Elementary PTO is sponsoring their second book fair of the year.  During the last week of March students have the opportunity to purchase books while visiting the book fair in the digital media center.  On Wednesday, 3/26 the book fair had two special visitors.  Clifford the Big Red Dog, and the Comet mascot stopped by to visit with the students who were at the book fair.

Elgin Elementary School Welcomes the Nucor Steel Management  for our third Leadership Luncheon.  Nucor Steel employees have been trained in and implement the business model of the 7 Habits just like our students do!

Elgin FFA Ranked as a Top 10 Chapter in the State

There are over 300 FFA chapters in Ohio and the Elgin FFA has been slated as an overall Top 10 chapter!

Elgin Fellowship of Christian Athletes are hosting a 5K run "Leave the Devil in the Dust" on Saturday April 12th. The Registration time is 8am and start time is 9am at Marion Catholic High School parking lot.

It was a great night at Elgin Elementary and everything was FREE!  Over 250 parents and students joined the dedicated staff, retirees, cooks, board members and Mr. Gast for Math Night Out.  We even got some spouses of our staff to join the fun!  Activities for grades K-5 were enjoyed by students with their parents.

Elgin Schools host Veteran’s Day Concert
Elgin Schools will be performing a Veteran’s Day Concert.
The elementary, middle school, and high school choirs will be performing a combined concert in honor of our veterans on Wednesday, Nov. 13 in the Cafetorium. Choir students in grades 5-8 will perform at 6:30 p.m., followed by a brief intermission, and concluding with the high school choirs performing at 7:30 p.m. 
These concerts will be a tribute to all those currently serving and those who have served. All veterans are encouraged to attend.
Book Fair
Elgin Elementary PTO is hosting its first Book Fair of the school year. Students have the opportunity to visit and purchase items during the school day. It also will be open during Reading Night on Thursday, Oct. 24. Please stop in and check out all great books and help us promote reading!

The Elgin Elementary PTO will be holding its first meeting on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 5 p.m. in the Community Room at the new school building. We look forward to seeing you there!
Reading Night and Bear Club
Bear Club/Reading Night is an evening event where parents can come to school and learn strategies to help enrich and challenge their child. Bear Club meets first at 6 p.m. Parents meet with our K-1 and Reading Title teachers to learn about the importance of reading in young lives.  At 6:30 p.m., the 2nd- through 5th-grade students and parents are invited to travel through the school participating in reading games and activities.

Pennies for Patients

Today Elgin Elementary's Lighthouse Team rolled out the Pennies for Patients Drive to raise money by collecting spare change for childern diagnosed with blood born cancers. Students brought home collection boxes to fill with spare change in their bookbags and a letter about this wonderful opprotunity to bring in change to help make a change.  Check out the message our student leaders shared with the whole school during our morning assembly in this video they made.  There will be updates on the progress of this campaign posted during the next two weeks. Help EES help others out and send in some change for change!

This fall, Elgin Local School cafeterias are meeting tough new federal nutrition standards for school meals, ensuring that meals are healthy and well-balanced and provide students all the nutrition they need to succeed at school. Now is a great time to encourage your kids to choose school lunch!
New school year, new chance to stress early learning
As kindergarten students start school, teachers are asking parents to continue their learning at home.

Students who haven’t gone to preschool will get their first taste of school this week as the 2012-13 school year starts for all school districts except Ridgedale Local Schools.
Back-to-school information
